Young performers wow the audience

TALENTED children at Scarborough College had the wow factor when they took part in a singing competition.

A total of 19 acts took part in the school's Wow Factor competition where they performed in front of almost 500 people.

The winner was Emily Cole, 14, who sang Love Story by Taylor Swift. She was presented with a trophy and a cheque for 100.

The runner up was eight-year-old Helen Inasu, who sang Part of your World from the Little Mermaid.

The judges were Miss Scarborough Rachael Cooper, local entertainer David Nicholson, TV presenter Carolyn Hodgson and Yorkshire Coast Radio presenter Wes Stakes.

The event, which is in its second year, was organised by the Friends of Scarborough College.

Vice-chairman of the group Mark Lewis said: "It went really well and all the finalists were outstanding. We had auditions earlier in the year and there were 19 acts in the final.

"We want to thank the four judges and everyone who came to watch and support the finalists."
