X Factor star to perform at bash - COMMENT ON THIS STORY

A FORMER X Factor semi-finalist will perform an exclusive live set at this weekend's postcode lottery celebrations in Scarborough.

Danyl Johnson, 28, who finished fourth in the 2009 series of the hit ITV talent show, is set to appear at the bash in South Bay between 1pm and 2pm on Sunday.

Residents whose postcode begins with YO12 5, which covers parts of Falsgrave, Sandybed and Newby, and bought a ticket for the People's Postcode Lottery, will each receive a minimum of 10,000 from the 1 million prize pot.

Danyl, a former teacher, said "I'm so excited to be part of these celebrations, and I'm really looking forward to meeting all the Scarborough winners. The 1 million prize pot is sure to change people's lives- and I plan to blow the crowds away with a fantastic range of songs. See you there!"

The singer, who has recently returned from tour, has also promised to try and fit in his "lucky" X Factor audition song - a version of "With a Little Help from My Friends", which has since become a YouTube sensation with over 13 million views.

The charity lottery – which gives 40p from every ticket to good causes – will announce the full winning postcode and exactly how much each player has won at Sunday's event, which will be hosted by radio presenter Judie McCourt.

Scarborough people are being encouraged to attend the occasion regardless of whether they have won or not.

The 1 million destined for Scarborough is part of a 10.3 million prize pool, with the draw including addresses in the UK and Holland.

The British version of the lottery joined up with its Dutch counterpart to organise the European Postcode Millions draw.

The People's Postcode Lottery was set up in 2005 to raise money for charities. For every 2 ticket sold, 40p goes directly to good causes.

Conservation group WWF are set to benefit from the proceeds of the European draw.

Previous organisations to have received money from the Postcode Lottery include Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust.

More than 9 million has been raised by the lottery since January 2008.
