Woman found in theatre after fleeing hospital

A WOMAN who went missing from Scarborough Hospital was found in the green room at the Stephen Joseph Theatre.

The 46-year-old Pickering woman, who has not been named, disappeared at about 5pm on Wednesday after going to hospital to receive treatment.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said they were called to assist in the search for the woman after she ran off down the road used by ambulances to access the hospital.

The woman made her way into town and walked into the theatre.

"The woman was mistaken for a member of staff from a visiting company and made her way to the green room – which is a common room for all theatre and visiting staff," said a theatre spokesman.

She was arrested under the Mental Health Act for her own safety after she became agitated and didn't respond to questioning. After being assessed by a doctor she was released.
