Wild West theme for annual walk on Scarborough seafront
FUNDRAISERS are being urged to walk on the wild side for this year's Walk For Life.
The theme of the popular fundraising event is the Wild West and thousands of people are expected to take part.
This year the three-and-a-half-mile walk will take place on Sunday March 28.
As usual it will start at the entrance to the Open Air Theatre at Peasholm Gap at 2pm.
The walk will continue along Marine Drive through the Toll House, along Sandside and Foreshore Road, finishing at the Spa Complex.
Mayor of Scarborough Cllr Bill Chatt will officially start the walk.
The walk aims to raise thousands of pounds for a range of charities.
Organiser Linda Tomczak said: "This is the 17th year we have done this walk and it gets more and more popular each year.
"People can do the walk for whichever charity they want. We normally have a huge variety of charities which is great.
"We are hoping we get some good weather. It should be another successful walk."
Last year the theme was All the Fun of the Circus and people dressed as clowns, musicians and jugglers.
The youngest participant was two-year-old Isobel Vasey, who was walking with her parents Lorraine and Shaun.
They were raising funds for the Stepping Stones playgroup.
The event raised around 10,000 for charities including Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Parkinson's Disease Society, St Catherine's Hospice and various groups in the area.
Mrs Tomczak hopes a similar sum will be reached this year.
She said: "We normally raise about that much so hopefully it will be the same this year. We are all really looking forward to it."
Sponsorship forms will be available from the Evening News reception in Aberdeen Walk from Monday.
