A SCARBOROUGH father who has been fighting off cancer has survived to see his son's first birthday – and is now to marry.

Michael Simpson, 21, was told at one point he had just two hours to live.

The care assistant, who has been battling testicular cancer since February, was taken seriously ill with a chest infection at the end of March.

Miss Whitfield, 28, said: "When we reached the intensive care unit we were told to prepare for the worst. Michael was given two hours to live at one point. I thought our little boy, Joshua, would have to grow up without a dad."
