Warning on window con artist
A WARNING to elderly Scarborough residents has been issued after a pensioner fell victim to a scam.
The woman, of Whin Bank, was visited at her home last month by a man who claimed he was a colleague of her window cleaner and was collecting money.
She handed over £15, but later found out that the man had been a con artist.
Police fear that the scammer may strike again.
The male is described as white, around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build, aged in his late 30s.
He was wearing dark clothing and a blue or black beanie hat.
Anyone with information should contact PC David Lingwood on 101.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 11:26 PMIts obviously someone who has worked his "colleague's" round before to know the addresses and amount. You would have to be very lucky to happen upon a house that has a window cleaner and actually pays you, this wont be an oppurtunist."Con artists" dont just chose houses at random for stuff like that. That said, mistakes can and do happen, wrong street, wrong number house etc, theres only a very little story to go on.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 03:09 PMhi. I think that this is terrible, my husband is a window cleaner and he knows that this has happened several times before. We should advise all our customers not to pay anyone who they have not seen before. Ann Greenwood Seaview Drive
