Visitor attraction's Lottery funding bid
A TOP attraction has submitted a bid to the heritage Lottery Fund for a £1.5 million project.
The North York Moors Railway, which has no museum at its centre in Pickering, is hoping to obtain the funds to set up an education and learning centre as well as restore that station’s roof.
Marketing director Phil Bustard said that if the plans go ahead then it would enable them to add to the attraction and make it a useful centre for schools and community groups as well as general visitors and enthusiasts.
It is estimated that it attracts around 18 million into the local economy and was voted one of the top attractions in Yorkshire.
Last year it celebrated a record 322,000 visitors and if its latest plans come to fruition it could see those figures continue to soar.
