UFO over Hutton Buscel

UFOs may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of the leafy village of Hutton Buscel.

However, one resident in the village had a very close encounter on Saturday evening.

Lynn Debruyn, 62, lives in the main street in the village. She was in her garden at around 8pm when she noticed an unusual orange glow in the night sky.

She said: “It wasn’t quite dark yet, and I was just looking around for owls and house martins in the garden.

“All of a sudden there was an orange orb in the sky moving from west to east.”

She described the orb as being similar to an aeroplane in its movement and speed. The difference, she said, was in its shape and colour.

“Aeroplanes usually don’t have a bright orange glow to them. They also usually leave a trail of smoke, which this didn’t have.”

To her amazement, a second orb then appeared, moving in exactly the same way. She watched them both for several moments before they disappeared behind a cloud.

One possible suggestion was that the UFO was in fact aircraft from nearby RAF Fylingdales.

However Squadron Leader Ralph Dinsley dismissed the possibility, saying: “Unfortunately, without more information, we don’t know of anything in the area at that time that could explain the sighting.”

Scarborough UFO expert Russ Kellett offered a further logical explanation for the sighting, saying. “The fact that it was bright, glowing orange would indicate it’s a Chinese lantern, which sadly make up most of all reported sightings these days.”

However, Mrs Debruyn is adamant that they were not lanterns, and that until proved otherwise, she will “be watching the sky a lot more now.”

Mr Dinsley stated that if anybody does spot anything unexplainable in the sky, the best thing to do is contact the police.

However, Mr Kellett believes contacting the police in the case of a sighting would be “pointless”, stating: “You will know the real deal if you see it, as there’s a chance they will take you.”

All you comedians, I have positive scientific proof that aliens are indeed among us, they come down from their spaceships every five years and beam themselves along to the nearest polling station, where they all put their X against the name of Goodwill before returning to the planet Tralfamidon. Well, what other explanation could there be?

I was once out walking on the cliff tops... a craft came above my head and beamed me up. I was inserted and probed numerous times, however i must say that the aliens were extremely gentle and caring towards me. they did use protection and didn't "make me feel less of a man".

Late Last year poss SeptOct time I was here for the weekend at my caravan at Cayton Bay when I saw the very same thing that has been described in the report, I have on many occations lit Chinese Lanterns and seen them in the sky and these orange orbs were not lanterns..... there was 3 of them flying west to east in a straight line (as lanterns could do granted) but then as they slowly moved over head i noticed A 4th orange orb appear at A distance behind the 3 it then acelerated up and caught up and joined the back of the 3rd orb and travelled at the same pace and distance to the other 3 .... they then moved out to sea and as I was then driving down .I had not been drinking or am I old and confused ! May be there UFO's or may be not who knows....

I was star gazing the other night and saw a bright silvery light that looked like a star travelling from the North East towards the South over Cayton Bay. I thought it could be a man made satalite catching the sunlight or one of our aircraft until it stopped changed colour to a redlight star about over Gristhorpe and shot out over the sea at a fantastic speed and GONE in a flash. I don't know what it was and I am still wondering?. This one over Hutton Buscel does look as if it was a chinese Lantern, you see many over Eastfield on New Years Eve.

If aliens are really Out There looking to "take you", surely they will take the best and the most intelligent examples of our species back to their home planet? In which case, how come Mr Kellett is still here?

No shame in admitting you were mistaken. When i first saw a couple together, i wondered if they were hang gliders, until a friend who works for the coastguard told me what they were, a pain in the backside for them. As for alien life, its a big universe out there, we can't assume we are the only intelligent life forms.

I think there is probably other life out there somewhere, just unlikely it has a wire skeleton, paper skin and a soul of pure fire, bit Terry Pratchett for me. Recent developments at the large hadron collider lean favourably towards superluminal travel though, so maybe we will find out one day! No need to crave for alien life whilst Ed Balls is anything to do with government.

To hotelier, I saw four, not a couple. I take everyone's comments on board, and ok maybe I was mistaken. However, who are we to be so arrogant as to think we are the only inhabitants of the Universe?

"One possible suggestion was that the UFO was in fact aircraft from nearby RAF Fylingdales"----- There are none and never have been any aircraft at RAF Fylingdales. As everyone else, Chinese lantern, nothing more.

Darn, only ever seen Chinese lanterns as a group, and they seemed to float, not travel steadily...what a disappointment...

#7, Please do not think we are ridiculing you, But....... 1. Chinese lanterns are silent 2. They moved in the same direction because they are propelled by the wind which would blow them both in the same direction. 3.They need no navigational lights ( its a lantern) 4.They leave no contrail 5.Chinese lanterns are Orange lights in the sky the shape of orbs. I suspect the evening news has dressed this story up as more than it is , this is due to the lack of real journalism at the paper, I am surprised there is no "fake action picture" to accompany the story as this is the case with most evening news stories. No story is complete in the evening news without a "point at the object and smile picture"
