Town pub is real ale Angel - COMMENT ON THIS STORY

A SCARBOROUGH pub has been crowned the best in the town by the local branch of real ale campaign group CAMRA.

The Angel, in North Street, has been judged the winner in the town category of the group's pub of the season awards.

Landlord Dave Edmond said: "I'm over the moon. We always try to have four real ales on and they've all been doing really well over the summer.

"We've got a beer called Cropton Two Pints on at the minute which is brewed just outside Pickering."

Colin Povey, secretary of the Scarborough branch of CAMRA, praised The Angel for its commitment to real ale and traditional atmosphere.

He said: "It's always a popular town centre pub, now serving four real ales of an excellent quality.

"The pub represents what a true local should be."

The rural award went to The Sun Inn, in Pickering, which was recently saved from closure by new owners.
