'Take-off' for new hotel eco-lodges
A COUNTRY hotel has gone green with the launch of new luxury eco-lodges.
Raven Hall Country House Hotel, at Ravenscar, boasts eight new lodges designed and developed in Finland.
Their sustainable features include water recycling systems, an eco- friendly structure and recycled energy boosting.
Clive Rowe-Evans, managing director of Epworth Hotels, the firm which runs Raven Hall, said: "The new executive lodges demonstrate our commitment to providing our guests with the highest standards of accommodation and with the knowledge that their stay will be 'carbon-neutral'.
"Each lodge is individually designed and built with sustainable materials imported from Finland."
The lodges are in three designs and sizes and are in the hotel grounds with views of Robin Hood's Bay, which, according to Mr Rowe-Evans, is "one of the finest views in Europe that provides guests with an inspirational scene".
They were unveiled to the public during an official opening ceremony, conducted by the Rev Dr Lord Lesley Griffiths, and the chairman of Epworth Hotels, Brian Thornton.
As part of the launch celebration a collection of birds of prey, including Misha the African eagle, were on display – representing the "take off" of the new lodges.
