Students put on a show with theatre company
SCARBOROUGH students joined forces with a theatre production company to put on a show in the run-up to the town's second literature festival.
Yorkshire Coast College students, in association with the Beach Hut Theatre Company, presented Creatrix: Bursting Into Life, in the Concert Hall of Scarborough Library and Information Centre in Vernon Road.
Creatrix is a series of new plays celebrating female thought, which are written and directed by local young women.
The writer-directors are in their second year of studying for their national diploma in performing arts.
The project was overseen by lecturer Alison Watt, who is also a professional writer and director, with fellow lecturer Rob Herdman.
Alison said: "It is wonderful that local writing is being developed in this way both through the performing arts course at Yorkshire Coast College and through the encouragement and support of the literary festival.
The festival starts tomorrow and runs until Sunday.
