Students on their way to being first aiders

YOUNGSTERS from Scalby School have been learning first aid skills in a course run by St John Ambulance.

The pupils are taking part in the Young First Aiders course, which will last for 14 weeks.

Year 7 learning manager Kath Baggallay said: "It is run over a couple of sessions a week and there will be an exam-style practical assessment at they end, after which they will receive a recognised certificate from St John."

She added: "It is going well and we will probably run it again. The children are really enjoying it and it is good for them to be able to learn basic first aid skills. They are skills everyone needs."
