Spring clean for Barrowcliff
YOUNGSTERS in Barrowcliff, Scarborough, are giving part of their area a spring clean from today.
The initiative will run until the weekend and involves several organisations and schools working in partnership.
Organisations which are involved include:
l Yorkshire Coast Homes
l Sanctuary Housing
l Scarborough Council
l the Safer Communities Partner- ship
l Barrowcliff Residents and Tenants’ Association
l North Yorkshire Police
l Probation Service
l Youth Justice Service
l Barrowcliff Junior School
l St Peter’s Junior School
l Northstead Primary School
l Graham and Raincliffe combined schools.
A spokesman said: “The spring clean will be kick started today between 1pm and 3pm, when the schools joined together in a litter pick from Gallows Close Community Centre along the paths leading to both St Peter’s and Northstead schools.
“Tomorrow and Friday other spring-cleaning activities will take place on the estate, and then on Saturday, between 10am and 3pm, there will be a community event when residents of the estate are invited to assist in the clean up and work together to improve their neighbourhood.”
Anyone who would like to take part should go to Gallows Close Centre in Endcliff Crescent, where they will be briefed on how they can help with the clean up.
