Scarborough businesses competing for tourism honours

THE cream of Scarbor- ough's tourism-based businesses have their chance to shine at the region's annual awards tonight.

A total of 20 Scarborough and Filey businesses, ranging from accommodation providers and attractions to eating places and retailers, have been nominated in the 20 categories of this year's Moors and Coast Tourism Awards.

The finals of the event, now in its fifth year, are being staged tonight during a black tie dinner at the Spa and will be hosted by Carolyn Hodgson, of Calendar News.

David Shields, product development manager at Yorkshire Moors and Coast, who is involved with organising the awards, said: "The awards are an ideal way to acknowledge the people and businesses which provide visitors with an enjoyable experience, excellent standards of service and a genuine Yorkshire welcome.
