Road rage attack – new appeal
POLICE have made a fresh appeal after another witness came forward with information relating to a road rage incident in Scarborough.
It was at around 2pm on New Year's Day in Grosvenor Road when a pensioner was verbally abused and his car damaged.
The 76-year-old man, who had his wife and two granddaughters in his grey Honda Jazz, had just turned off Valley Road when a vehicle pulled in front of his car and caused him to stop.
A man then got out of the vehicle, walked up to the pensioner's car and was verbally abusive before kicking the driver's door, causing a large dent.
A Scarborough Police spokesman said an independent witness spotted the attack and reported it.
He said: "They stated there was a young female with the young male offender who got out of the car. He started shouting at them before giving a hard kick to the door."
Initially the suspect's vehicle was described as a medium sized car but the new witness described it as a metallic green, or blue, Citroen.
Any witnesses are asked to call the Scarborough Crime Management Unit on 01723 509341.
