Remember a loved one
SCARBOROUGH people are invited to remember their loved ones at a Lights to Remember service this weekend.
The service, which has been organised by the local branch of Marie Curie Cancer Care, is being held at Westborough Methodist Church on Sunday at 3pm.
It allows people to celebrate the lives of their loved ones by lighting a candle, while at the same time supporting the charity.
Local community fundraiser Michael Streets said: "Whatever your beliefs I hope you will join us this year to celebrate the lives of our loved ones, along with others throughout the UK, during this magical and moving celebration. It will be a beautiful service with hymns, prayers, poems and songs from the group Raven.
"Everyone who attends will be invited to light a candle of remembrance for a loved one.
"If you are unable to attend we can supply a memory tag for you to leave a special message"
Scarborough MP Robert Goodwill and mayor Cllr Bill Chatt will be doing readings at the service and refreshments will be served afterwards.
Funds raised will go towards the local provision of Marie Curie home nursing to the terminally ill in their own homes, which is free to patients and relies on the support of the public to continue its work.
