Relief after arson attack on donkeys

A POORLY donkey escaped being burned to death in a suspected arson attack at stables off Seamer Road.

Two-year-old Prince was tethered in a stable near the old ambulance station, as he is on medication after an illness.

Owner Rachael Phillips, who runs donkey rides on the beach in the South Bay, said: "Luckily Prince is unharmed but it's very fortunate. He was tied up and couldn't have escaped if the fire had got close to him."

Firefighters rescued Prince and another donkey after being called to the blaze at 4.15am on Saturday.
