Raising cash is a piece of cake for McCain workers

RAISING money for charity was a piece of cake for workers at McCain Foods as they collected more than £400.

Staff from the Eastfield firm's payroll department rallied together to bake a variety of sponges, loaves, biscuits, and buns, for the annual MS Cake Break Day.

Gill Hawley, Trish Wilson, Emma Chambers, and Lisa Aconley have so far raised 415 after setting up a cake stall in the offices to coincide with the national event and raise money for the MS Society.

Trish Wilson said: "We decided to take part in Cake Break Day as two of us in the office know someone who has been diagnosed with MS recently.

"We are extremely pleased with how much we raised, it was much more than we expected.

"There was a steady flow of people stopping by all day."

The women distributed posters around the factory and offices advertising the event.

They originally intended to raise 250 but with money still coming in they could yet double that figure.
