Quilters' show is a colourful affair
A HANDMADE quilt is to be raffled to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team.
The quilt has been made by members of the Scarborough Heirloom Quilters and will be raffled at the group's biennial quilt show at the Spa Complex which runs until tomorrow.
Member Dorothy Baird said: "The quilt has taken a few months to make and put together. This year it is a very beautiful quilt and is a combination of hand stitching, machine stitching and machine quilting."
She said, in the past, the team had raised between 1,200 and 1,400 raffling the quilt and they were hoping for a similar amount this year.
"We can make a significant amount of money, that is why we decided to split the proceeds between two charities this time."
Scarborough Heirloom Quilters is made up of around 50 members from Scarborough and the surrounding district and is one of the largest quilt groups in the country. About 15 members helped make the quilt.
