Prom ban for pupil who missed school - COMMENT ON THIS STORY

YOU shall not go to the ball!

A Scarborough College schoolboy has been banned from his end of school prom – which he helped to organise – in an action his parents have described as "petty".

Harrison Thorpe has been blackballed from this year's Year 11 prom because his parents chose to keep him on holiday for the first three days of the summer term, which began in April.

The youngster, who is currently taking his GCSEs at the 9,000-plus a year independent school, was initially given a three-week suspension, a period which would have included the date of the prom.

However, the suspension, which was scheduled to begin on the day of his last exam and covered a period when he would have spent little time on school premises, was lifted – but Harrison has been told he still cannot attend the party.
