Police appeal after burglary in town
Police appeal
SCARBOROUGH police are hunting a gang of men who burgled a property in the town.
The four men kicked in the front door of a home in Howard Street, around 8.30pm on Tuesday, February 14.
After gaining entry to the property, they then damaged internal doors as they searched the house.
However, police have revealed it is not known whether anything was stolen during the raid.
As they fled from the scene there was an altercation in the street as members of the public tried to stop them.
However, the gang managed to get away and ran off along Howard Street and into Sandringham Street.
All of the men, who are believed to be aged between 20 and 25-years-old, were wearing hooded tops and scarves covering their faces.
Witnesses have said one of the men was wearing a khaki hooded top with a motif across the front with white stitching around it.
Detective Constable Steve Williams, of Scarborough CID, said: “It is important that we trace the men involved in this incident and I would like to hear from anyone who can help us locate them.
“I would urge anyone who saw any suspicious activity or people running away from the area around the time of the incident to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
Anyone who has information should contact police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for DC Steve Williams or Scarborough CID.
Alternatively, people can speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting number 12120023935.
