Ploughing on for hospice funds
ORGANISERS of a vintage working day and ploughing match in Scarborough are hoping the event will pull in the crowds.
The event will be held at Mill Lane, Cayton, tomorrow.
It has been held for several years in aid of St Catherine's Hospice and offers something for the whole family.
Hospice fundraiser Jane Richardson said: "This year will see lots of vintage machinery working the field as well as Shire horses and a pony and cart for children's rides.
"There will also be steam engines, a threshing display, tractors, motorbikes, a saw bench, various stalls, refreshments, and some commercial vehicles on display."
During the morning it is hoped that vintage tractor owners will take part in a tractor drive out around the surrounding villages.
Later in the day there will be a grand auction, raffle and entertainment as well as a beer tent. Admission is free and the day starts from 9am with everybody welcome.
Organisers would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to donate items for the raffle or auction.
Please contact Terry Oakley or Eddie Brown on (01723) 582596.
Last year the day raised a record 4,900, which was used to fund the running costs of the hospice's inpatient unit, where patients benefit from consultant-led specialist palliative nursing care.
