Pindar pupils have a head for letters
PUPILS at George Pindar Community Sports College sent letters to local businesses urging them to donate gifts for their annual senior citizens Christmas party.
Two students, Tiffany Draper, 12, and Rowan Manship, 11, won a persuasive writing competition for their impressive letters.
Every year the school, in Moor Lane, Eastfield, holds the party for senior citizens in the Eastfield area.
This year’s event takes place on Tuesday December 16 at 2pm and students are still appealing for raffle and bingo prizes.
Events manager, Debbie Simpson, said: “This is a lovely community event and the students really enjoy organising it.
“We have received a really good response but are still in need of more prizes.”
Tiffany explained in her letter that the party is a great time for elderly people in the community to have fun and talk to other people their age.
She added: “At the party there will be a buffet, free raffle, bingo, carols and entertainment.
“Everything is free. All the prizes you donate will go to the elderly in the free raffle or bingo.”
Rowan wrote: “The party is important because it will bring all the elderly people together for Christmas.
Mrs Simpson added: “All the pupils wrote lovely letters and I want to thank everyone who has donated something so far.”
To donate items for the event, or if you would like to attend the party contact Mrs Simpson on (01723) 582194.
