Parked cars hit by thieves

THIEVES who broke into a Citroen Synergie car in Stone Quarry Road, Burniston, got away with goods worth £185.

They smashed one of the back windows between 11.30pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday and stole a Goodmans portable DVD player, with a 7in screen, worth 65 and a black Nintendo DSI games console worth 120.

Police are also hunting a thief who forced open a passenger door on a Fiat Punto car and stole a silver-coloured stereo unit worth an estimated 100.

The car was parked in Nares Street between 7pm on Sunday and 7.30am on Monday.
