Osgodby pub to reopen 'within weeks'
OSGODBY village's only pub – the Poachers Barn – is to be saved, according to the pub chain that runs it.
The boozer was boarded up last month but the Marston Pub Company, which owns the premises, says it hopes to have it up and running again in as little as a fortnight.
A spokesman for the company said: "The previous tenant made the decision to leave the business.
"Marston's has since been in negotiations with a local publican and hope to reopen within the next two weeks."
The news has been welcomed by Cllr Ann Preston, whose Cayton ward includes the village.
She said: "I'm very pleased to hear the pub will be reopening – to be honest I was amazed when it closed. As the village's only pub it was a centre for the community and without it people have nowhere to go."
