Music is on the menu at Scarborough hotel

A SCARBOROUGH landlady will be celebrating running a brace of bars on Friday.

Gillian Waterworth, who has been the power behind the pumps of the Wellington in Castle Road for seven years, takes over the Ramshill Hotel this week.

Two of Scarborough's most popular entertainers -– the legendary Danny Wilde and Patrick Dean – are topping the bill at Friday night's party to celebrate Gillian's takeover of the hotel and she promises plenty more entertainment in the future.

Gillian, who will be running the pub with partner Terry Neal, said: "One of the things we want to do is establish the pub as a venue and get lots of local bands and singers performing here.

"We'd also like to offer rehearsal space at the pub if there are any local bands who need it.

"We believe in supporting local music, so if anyone's looking for a place to rehearse they can pop in and have a chat with us."

She said she is looking forward to the challenge of the new venture, adding she also intends to keep the Wellington up and running as well.

"I'm absolutely looking forward to running the new pub. We want to return it to its former glory as a great local.

"We'd love to see as many regulars – old and new – down there as possible.

"A lot of people – especially the younger ones – tend to head into town for a night out, but there are so many great bars in the South Cliff area, they could have a fantastic night out just round here."
