Mayor to open fun day for old greyhounds

A FUN dog day to help retired greyhounds will be held tomorrow at Breweries Field, Sherburn.

Attractions include an allbreeds dog show with 24 classes, a greyhound parade, a fancy dress competition for children, food stalls, a tombola and other events plus various organisations will have stands.

Scarborough mayor Cllr Bill Chatt will be opening the event, which runs from 11am-4pm and will benefit the Retired Greyhounds (Hull) charity.

Ann Head, from Irton, is a member of the organising group. She said: "It's always an enjoyable day.

"The greyhound track in Hull is closed so we're going to be on the lookout for new homes to house retired dogs in."
