Marie's animal magic
ANIMAL magic is on the cards for schools and care homes in Scarborough.
Marie Conway, of Animals In-Tuition, looks after 21 domestic and exotic animals, which she takes into organisations to people can learn more about them.
She will shortly be visiting The Hall, a home for the elderly in Thornton-le-Dale, and is preparing her first ever “animal party” for a friend’s son’s third birthday.
Miss Conway, 25, used to work in the reptile and aquarium section at Flamingoland and is delighted to be able to continue her work with animals.
The Falsgrave resident looks after the array of creatures in specially-designed enclosures at home.
The menagerie includes exotic creatures such as an Australian sugarglider, an African gecko and a Royal python, along with more familiar animals such as a rabbit and guinea pig.
Miss Conway said: “Some people are besotted with the animals and others don’t really want to touch them. Some adults are more afraid than the children!
“The best thing is telling people about the animals and emphasising the importance of their welfare. I believe everybody goes away from the experience having learnt something.”
