Gym club's appeal for help

SCARBOROUGH Gymnastics Academy is hoping to drum up support for its newly-launched fundraising lottery club.

The group is having to make do with a small toy drum from a bingo game to draw its weekly numbers.

Susan Richings, chairman of the fundraising committee, said: “We could really do with getting our hands on a proper tombola drum. It could be that someone just happens to have a drum collecting dust in their attic that we could lovingly look after and use each week.

“If anybody does have a drum we could use we would happily name it after them to announce our weekly winners in the same way that the national lottery name their drums!”

The lottery was launched in July and the first draws took place this month. The main draw was for 100 and there was another for 20. Winners were Evy Walker and Dionne Rawlings.

Proceeds of the lottery will go towards buying new gymnastics equipment and help fund a move to new premises.

Anyone who can help should contact Susan Richings on (01723) 582666.
