Floods in Burniston
The A165 Burniston coastal road was closed due to flooding and some homes were badly affected.
Mum of three Jodie Reeves, of Quarry Road, Burniston, contacted the Evening News when floodwater near her home reached around five feet.
The 33-year-old said she was going to have to pick up her daughters Georgia, 9, and Kitty Jean, 6, up from school and carry then across a knee-high flooded footbridge to get home.
She added that Kitty Jean, who has cerebral palsy, was celebrating her sixth birthday yesterday (FRI] and that they had had to cancel her party.
Mrs Reeves, who also has a two-year-old called Bill, said: "I've lived here for six years and this is the worst its been in a while.
"It happens every year and its getting more frequent. It's dangerous now - a fire engine or ambulance would struggle to get through."
Mrs Reeves added that her husband, Mark, who works as a joiner, was stuck at home as he had not been able to get to work.
She said: "It's horrendous - it's got to the stage now where something needs to be done."
The A171 through Cloughton and the A165 through Scalby were closed because of flooding.
