Fireworks 'set off dangerously'

SCARBOROUGH firefighters may have reported a quiet Bonfire Night but youngsters in the town were still spotted setting off fireworks in a dangerous manner.

Police were called to Aberdeen Street at 6.20pm on Wednesday after a group of people were spotted setting off fireworks in a communal garden.

When officers arrived at the scene they found evidence of fireworks but no one was in the area.

Just over an hour later, at 7.25pm, police had to move on a group of youths in St Nicholas Street after it was reported that fireworks were being let off in the street.

And at about 9.30pm rockets were seen going almost horizontally towards homes in Tindall Street.
