Festival will let the train take the strain for fans
LITERATURE fans will be Taking the Train with poets, authors, musicans and artists at an event tomorrow.
An entertainment of readings, live music, songs and projected pictures will be presented as part of Scarborough’s literature festival.
It will have a railway theme, and will be at the library, at 7pm.
Organiser John Jones says: “Many poets and authors from Wordsworth and Dickens to UA Fanthorpe and TS Eliot have written of their railway experiences.
“The topic is also well represented musically through instrumental pieces and song, while painters such as Turner, the French impressionists and later artists have portrayed the subject too,” says John, who will project pictures at the event.
“This concert explores that entertaining diversity of expression and is performed in aid of Saint Catherine’s Hospice.”
The readers will be Heather Stoney, Kate Evans, John Clarke and Nigel Gerrans. The musicians are Frank James on piano and Catherine Sign on flute. The singers are John Noblet and Lynne Mellor.
