Fair highlights animal campaign
STUDENTS at St Augustine's School held a fair to raise money for a project to campaign against animal testing.
The youngsters organised the event which included various stalls and a game of bingo.
Other pupils, staff and parents attended the fair, where the pupils raised 30 for their “Solutions for the Planet” project.
The pupils, aged 12 and 13, are protesting against animal skinning and animal testing. The aim of the project is to plan, fund and run a campaign to address the controversial issues.
Science teacher Rebecca Noble said: “The children organised all of this themselves. I am overwhelmed with the effort they have put into it.
“They are hoping to create some information packs about the issues and are now raising money to do this.
“The fair went really well and they are hoping to organise more events soon.”
Four students – Sophie Grant, Adam Sharp, May Chung and Sailendra Mavuri – are behind the project and are currently carrying out research and finding sponsors for their project.
