Eco-friendly cottage

A QUAKER cottage has reopened – revamped, refurbished and completely eco-friendly.

Worfolk Quaker Centre in Staintondale will be officially reopened on Sunday by Recording Clerk, Gillian Ashmore.

The new carbon neutral centre includes a total of 25 different eco-friendly developments including a ground source heat pump, a wind turbine and solar panels.

The Quakers first gathered at the centre in 1669. The present building was used for meetings and burials until the end of the eighteenth century and has been a place of rest and recuperation for the last 40 years.

There are 14 bed spaces in five bedrooms including a disabled room with wheelchair access and en-suite toilet, wash basin and shower on the ground floor.
