Drunk teen in court
A MAN who urinated against the wall of Scarborough Police Station before sticking his fingers up at a policeman has been ordered to pay £150.
Ben Goodwin, 18, of Queen Street, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Northway on July 12 at around 8.20pm.
Katy Varlow, prosecuting, said that after the initial incident, Goodwin verbally abused police officers when he was arrested outside Scarborough Magistrates' Court.
"This was not Mr Goodwin's finest hour," she added.
Goodwin, who was not represented by a solicitor, said: "I shouldn't have done it. I can't really remember it because I was intoxicated.
"I have a problem, I drink quite a lot. I drink cider, lager and vodka - sometimes all together."
He added that he had sought help voluntarily from The Cambridge Centre.
Ian Westmoreland, the chairman of the bench, said: "You are 18 and are on a slippery slope. You already have drunk and disorderly on your record. You are not doing yourself any good."
Goodwin was fined 50, told to pay costs of 85 and a victim surcharge of 15.
He will pay the balance at a rate of 10 per fortnight.
He was also offered the opportunity to make an appointment with the integrated offender management team, which is run by the Probation Service.
Mr Westmoreland added: "We don't want to see you back here, and I'm sure you don't want to come back either."
