Dogs will dress to impress at world record attempt - COMMENT ON THIS STORY

SCARBOROUGH'S Pets at Home store is getting behind England's 2018 World Cup bid with the help of some furry football fans.

The retail team at the Seamer Road store have joined forces with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre to break the Guinness World Record for the number of dogs in costume attire.

Hundreds of dogs and their owners will gather in their England shirts on the day to show their allegiance to the "Three Lions".

The event will take place on Saturday from 12pm to 2pm and all dog owners are welcome to join in.

The current world record for the most dogs in costume attire stands at 208 and is held by the New York Mets baseball team.

Store manager, Mike Southwick, said: "So far, over 100 people have registered, which is a fantastic response, but it's vital that we get more people to register before Saturday so we can smash the New York Mets' record.

"To ensure it all runs smoothly on the day, we're calling on all dog owners interested in taking part to come and collect their free England dog shirts from our store beforehand. There will also be a free goodie bag for each dog on the day."

Tickets to take part in the world record attempt are 5 and all proceeds will be donated to Pets at Home's charity Support Adoption For Pets.

Register your details in the store, call (01723) 501571 or email barkinthepark2010@hotmail.co.uk
