Cultural map will promote town activities
A NEW cultural map of Scarborough will be revealed at a special launch event tonight.
The CHART Scarborough map aims to promote Scarborough in a new way, celebrating the town's creativity and its cultural landmarks.
It has been created with the input of local people and it is hoped that the project will put Scarborough's cultural activities - both past and present - "on the map".
The launch is being held in the Concert Room, Scarborough Library, and will feature performers from the Stephen Joseph Theatre's Outreach group and Scarborough Hip Hop School.
There will also be a display of work by Scarborough photographer Sarahphotogirl.
Project developer Dorcas Taylor said: "We're all looking forward to it. The visual arts, music and theatre will all be represented at the launch.
"The aim of the map is to raise the profile of the creative sector in the town and celebrate Scarborough's creative and cultural heritage."
The map features landmarks such as the Rotunda Museum, Scarborough Art Gallery and iconic hotels such as the Royal and the Grand.
