Crowds gather for Gay Pride celebration
CROWDS gathered in Peasholm Park for Scarborough's second annual Gay Pride celebration.
The community event, put together by Gay Scarborough, recognises the town's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
It featured a picnic and stalls selling items such as jewellery. Attractions also included face painting, tarot readings and music from Ruth Stanford and DJ Joshy B who performed on the bandstand.
An after party was held at the Albion pub in Castle Road.
Christine Mark, committee member of Gay Scarborough, said: "It's a terrific event with a real community feel.
"The great thing is that it involves so many different people and Peasholm Park is such a lovely, safe venue.
"We hope it will carry on and there will be another event next year."
The celebration was attended by Scarborough's mayor Cllr Hazel Lynskey and mayoress Sheila Kettlewell.
