Couple sitting pretty after day one of sale
A SCARBOROUGH couple were sitting pretty after they bagged the first bargain at Boyes' sale.
Geoff and Sylvia Nesbitt, of Stepney Grove, queued from 6am to make sure they got a tilt and rise electric armchair which was reduced by 150. The chair is for Mrs Nesbitt’s sister, who is disabled.
Mr Nesbitt, a retired printer, said: “The cold didn’t bother us really – we brought a flask. There was only one of the chairs so we had to get it – we’re really pleased we did.”
Chris Golder, store manager, said: “We have really been looking forward to the sale. We were here until 8.30pm getting the store ready last night.
“I’m glad the snow hasn’t arrived yet, but we’ve got some plastic sledges in stock so we’re ready for it.”
Customers flocked into the store when the doors opened at 9am yesterday. The sale lasts for four weeks, with new lines arriving every week.
