Conductor turns cook

THE conductor of the Scarborough Symphony Orchestra will appear on a cooking programme every afternoon this week.

Shaun Matthew, who has been the conductor for four years, will show off his culinary skills on the Rosemary Shrager's School for Cooks which is shown weekdays on ITV1 at 4pm.

He will be featured on every show this week and will have to battle it out against other contestants.

He said: "The school is in Masham and this week sees the heats. There are eight contestants and each day one person will leave. Three are then left at the end of the week and they will return for the final."

"I loved every minute of it. I learned so much and have improved my cooking skills so much.

"I have always had an interest in cooking and it is nice to have something other than music to specialise in."
