Coffee mornings – your chance to help

VENUES around the Scarborough area are hosting events for the World's Biggest Coffee Morning, to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support.

And the charity is urging people in Scarborough to get in touch with them as soon as possible if they want to beat the deadline to register for its flagship fundraising event.

The main fundraising day is this Friday, although events are taking place on other days.

The charity is delighted at the fantastic response from local people but fundraising bosses are hoping even more people in Scarborough will sign up to take part.

Sally Millinton, fundraising manager for the area, said: "The great thing about this event is that it's so easy to organise – in fact it's a piece of cake to help Macmillan!

"Just invite a few friends round for coffee and a catch-up or organise a coffee party at your work place or local club. There's no right or wrong way to take part."

Macmillan's Chief Executive Ciaran Devane said: "Every penny raised at a coffee morning will help fund more services for people affected by cancer. Your involvement – no matter how small – means there will be enough practical, medical, financial and emotional support to help to change the lives of everyone affected by cancer for the better. And for that, we think you should feel good."

To register to host a coffee morning or find one locally visit www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee or call 0845 602 1246.
