Christmas cheers with Santa's early visit to Spital Farm

THE Christmas spirit came to Spital Farm on Saturday as Santa himself arrived to start the holiday season in style.

Rachael Large, owner of the centre's Toy Shop and Christmas Shop, who was working for the day as one of Santa's little helpers, said: "There was a big crowd waiting for us when we arrived – it seems everyone wants to bring Christmas in. Lots of people dressed up for the occasion and really got into the spirit – it was wonderful."

Locals were joined by a crush of Christmas lovers who arrived on a specially organised bus which had pick-up points in the town centre and at Morrisons. "The bus was nearly full, which was wonderful," Rachael said. "If they'd been any fuller we couldn't have got any buggies on. It's been lovely and a great way to start Christmas."
