Children get creative for art project
TALENTED youngsters in Scarborough have been awarded for their creativity after completing a successful art course.
The children from Barrowcliff Junior School were given certificates to mark their work during the Artbeat community project.
The youngsters were tasked with producing native American masks before being given the opportunity to create their own Picasso style masterpieces, under the guidance of artists Jo Venus and Wendy McKechnie.
Scarborough deputy mayor Cllr John Blackburn was on hand to give out the certificates, and project co-ordinator Vee Shrimpton said it has been a great success.
Ms Shrimpton said: "We try to make the ceremony really nice for the children because it is important that they feel special and confident in the work they are doing.
"The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and all said that they wanted to do the course again which is fantastic.
"The artists that we have are great and set the bar high for the children which provides a challenging opportunity for them to boost their ability and confidence."
