Charity ringing the changes

A SCARBOROUGH charity has put out an urgent call for old mobile phones.

Dial A Ride are looking to collect as many phones as possible to raise funds for new equipment.

The organisation provides fully accessible, door to door transport for those who are either retired, have some form of disability or who have difficulty using other forms of transport.

Tim Lawson, deputy manager, said: “There must be thousands of old mobile phones lying around in drawers because people don’t use them any more.

“But we can sell the phones to a recycling company who refurbish them and move them on to places in the third world.”

Mrs Lawson added that Dial A Ride did a similar project a few years ago and raised around 300.

He said: “We were pleased with the amount raised but we’d love to beat it this time if possible!”

If you would like to help, please hand in your old mobile phones to any Dial A Ride driver or call Mr Lawson on (01723) 354434 to arrange collection. Alternatively call into the office at Allatt House, West Parade Road.
