Cash for computers update

SCARBOROUGH Council's central rural area committee has given £270 to help pay for 10 computer monitors to be updated.

The monitors are provided by the Scarborough Blind & Partially Sighted Society which has more than 600 members.

A report to the committee says: “Over 100 clients have learned or are still learning to use a computer.

“The client is able to take control of their lives as far as the written word is concerned by having letters, bills, bank statements, etc, scanned and reproduced on the monitor and being able to write their own replies.

“Using the computers enables the clients to feel they are part of society once again after feeling socially excluded.”
