A 16-YEAR-OLD Scarborough youth has appeared before a court and admitted having a Luger pistol with intent to cause fear of violence.
The gun was present at an attempted robbery at the West End Garage in Seamer Road on October 16 last year.
The female cashier, who was put in fear, was said to have been left “shocked and angry” following the incident, which took place at about 3.20am.
The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared before York Crown Court yesterday.
Two previously denied charges against him of attempting robbery and possessing a deactivated firearm are not to be pursued by the Crown Prosecution Service.

The youth admitted the offence alongside an adult, Matthew Gee, 18, of Falsgrave Road, who has previously admitted the attempted robbery and connected firearm offence.
Detective Inspector Geoff Carey said such crimes were “extremely rare” in the Scarborough area.
Ian Brook, mitigating for the youth, said that a pychological report was already being prepared on his client, but asked the court to also order a pre-sentence report.
The case was adjourned until March 15 so that both defendants can be sentenced together.
An application for bail by Mr Brook failed. The youth was remanded in custody until the sentencing hearing.
