Assault boxer can still fight for Britain
Scarborough and Great Britain amateur boxer Daniel Price yesterday appeared before a court and admitted a charge of assault.
Price, 25, of Ridgeway, Eastfield, pleaded guilty before York Crown Court to a charge of assault upon James Fordyce.
In what was said by Recorder Anthony Kelbrick to be "on the face of it an unprovoked attack" Mr Forsdyke, a soldier, was assaulted in Scarborough on April 10.
The hearing was adjourned until October 4 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Price was given conditional bail, although that was varied on application by Marc McKone, defending, to allow his client to travel to Asia to box for Great Britain against India between September 9 and 16.
Granting bail, Recorder Kebrick told Price that all sentencing options must remain open to the court, but then wished him "success in India".
Mr McKone told the court that the defence were still trying to get statements from people which could have a bearing on the case.
