All change for parking system
A NEW 24-hour parking tariff is set to be introduced in Scarborough's long-stay car parks.
And a 15-minute band for on-street parking in most town-centre streets is to be axed.
But charges for short-stay parking in the borough will remain unchanged.
The modifications to the parking charges in the borough, likely to be implemented next March, have come about following a report by consultants from Mouchel Parkman and recommendations made by a special working group of Scarborough councillors and council officers.
It is thought the changes could net Scarborough Council an extra 67,000 in parking income.
In car parks in Albion Road, Brook Square, Burniston Road, Castle Road, Friarsway, North Terrace, Northstead Upper, Scalby Mills, St Mary's, Victoria Park, Westwood and William Street, the current long-stay charge of 3.50 will be replaced with a new 24-hour charge of 4.
In Eastborough, Marine Drive and Royal Albert Drive, Northstead Lower, Quay Street, Spa Drive and West Pier the current long stay charge of 4.50 is to be replaced with a 24-hour tariff of 4 – a reduction of 50p.
And in Whitby and Filey, a new 24-hour tariff of 4 replaces the current long-stay charge of 3.50.
