A Dee-light as school hits the lottery jackpot!

CHILDREN at Cayton School have a new playground to explore thanks to the persistence of one of their teachers.

Dee McCulloch, the school's reception class teacher and head of social and emotional aspects of learning, was turned down twice for the lottery money to build the playground.

However, she found it was third time lucky and a grant of 10,000 was awarded to the school.

The outdoor play equipment, with all-weather safe flooring, was installed in February and the children have recently been allowed to try it out for the first time.

Mrs McCulloch initiated the project, which she called "healthy body healthy mind" and is aimed at increasing the fun and enjoyment of all children, including those with limited mobility.

Mrs McCulloch said: "Cayton is an excellent school where everyone works incredibly hard to ensure that all children have the best opportunities in all areas.

"All of the children were involved in deciding what the new playground would be like and the school council ensured that all options and ideas were considered.

"It's a wonderful example of children and staff working together to make our school the best it can be."
