Prince to plant tree during hospice visit

ARRANGEMENTS are being made for Prince Charles to plant a tree on his visit to St Catherine's Hospice next Friday.

The heir to the throne will carry out the ceremony after meeting staff, patients and volunteers at the hospice in Throxenby Lane.

Lee Barker, chief executive at the hospice, said: “Prince Charles will be planting a fruit tree in our orchard.

“We have been told he will be here for about an hour over lunchtime.

“Having another Royal visitor is a tremendous honour for everyone at the hospice.”

Clarence House has not yet announced full details about the visit of Prince Charles to Scarborough.

However, it has been re-vealed that next Friday Prince Charles will have to attend four different events on the same day.

His hectic schedule will start with a morning trip to the Rotunda Museum in Scarborough where he will lay a stone commemorating the recent restoration work at the historic building.

It is not clear where Prince Charles will get a bite to eat, but after his visit to the museum he will be whisked up to the hospice.

He will then be taken to Levisham, north of Pickering, for a meeting with a group of farmers at Grange Farm.

Prince Charles is chairman of the Mutton Renaissance Campaign and will be going to Levisham to mark the start of the new mutton season.

The Prince of Wales will then move on to meet more farmers along with business leaders at Hill Top Farm, Spaunton, near Kirkbymoorside.

Prince Charles is president of an organisation called Business in the Community and his trip to Spaunton is being billed as a “Rural Action Programme Seeing is Believing” visit.

Prince Charles will not be accompanied by his wife Camilla on his journey to North Yorkshire.

On the same day the Duchess of Cornwall will be meeting staff at the Institute of Naval Medicine and Fort Blockhouse in Gosport, Hampshire.

She is Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Naval Medical Services.
